I like to match up earrings and necklaces to each outfit. (I'll show you my process in another post soon.) For an eight day trip, that's up to 8 pairs of earrings and eight necklaces. People have different methods of packing jewelry for trips; many don't work. I saw this idea and decided to try it. It works great!
I feed the hooks of my earrings through the whole of a button and tape them to the button. Then I wrap the earrings with paper the length of the earrings and tape the paper closed. for my necklaces I use an empty toilet paper roll. Cut notches on both ends. I feed the necklaces through the tube one at a time. Then, I gently pull the necklace into a notch on each end of the toilet paper roll then fasten the necklace.
After I've protected all of my jewelry from tangling, I put everything in my cute jewelry bag. I also throw in an old, laminated insurance card. I can put several extra pieces of tape on the card. When I unpack, I take the salvageable pieces of tape off of the paper and stick it on the card, save the paper, and I can repack my jewelry and protect it for the trip home. Protection from tangling also protects from loss or breaking.
